The Opportunity The Cloud Migration Product Owner will be part of PepsiCo’s Cloud Acceleration and Value Office (CAVO) and will be supporting migration of on-premise data center / field workloads to the public cloud. This role is being created due to our CAVO initiative (Cloud Acceleration and Value Office) and all the upcoming cloud migrations and new solutions being deployed in cloud. We moved 350+ applications to the cloud in 2021, 2022 and 2023, we will continue our migration journey with another 100+ in 2024, and several hundred more in the subsequent few years. This role will have ownership of a subset of lead execution of cloud migrations in a methodical agile way that enables migration at the scale and speed required to enable our digital transformation. This role will help define and lead cloud migration projects spanning multiple business units/sectors while ensuring a seamless transition from an on-prem to cloud operating environment. The role will focus on working with the various Product and Application Owners within the CIO teams to execute cloud assessments, review migration strategies, and plan / lead the actual migrations to the cloud, as a part of the workstream for the Cloud Migration Factory. Your Impact As Cloud Migration Specialist your scope would consist of As each geographical sector will have a “funnel” of applications that can move to the cloud hosted platforms, the Migration Factory well be responsible for scheduling and executing the various migrations. This requires a validation of the planned architecture in the cloud as well as the cost, potentially improving the currency of the versions for operating system, database, and application, as the systems are migrated to the cloud, and improving the security posture of the application. The migration team will also identify adherence to governance guidelines by ensuring that all applications migrated have a patch window defined in our system, as well as confirmed utilization 24x7 or potential opportunities for shutdown of systems when they are not in use. They will also validate any proposed re-architecture of applications as a part of migrations into cloud environments, i.e., PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS hosted in Microsoft Azure or AWS. Determine / confirm recommended hosting model to ensure the implementation of migrated solutions in the cloud will have a cost-effective support model and hosting model for all services. Review side by side comparisons of labor costs, hosting / hardware costs, software licenses, shared services costs, Operating System / database versions and patch levels, along with proposed migration method and any proposed re-architecture or optimization required to drive alignment across various teams for migrations and ensure the migrated system meets requirements. Lead execution of migration recommendations to support the multiyear cloud transformation journey, which would include operationalizing the required technology in a hybrid multi-cloud environment. This role will also provide guidance and leadership when a legacy system is to be replaced with the on-boarding of new cloud-native solutions for PepsiCo.
